going to visit Mike

My Mom, Jen and I will be leaving the U.S. to visit my brother Mike and his family today. They live on  the island of Grenada.  Where the hell is that.  I posted a map so you can get an idea.   Mike is attending vet school at St. Georges University.  I may try to post while I am there but who knows.  Here are a few web images also.  The bottom image is the school, not bad.  See you in 2 weeks!

how mondays should start

I asked Jen if she could start Monday off with a song, what would it be?  Of course my eighties loving wife said Manic Monday.  And here are the Bangles.......enjoy.

the man in black

My friend Lizz posted the this to Facebook and I think it is the ultimate tribute to Johnny Cash.  I can't believe I have never heard of this until now.  The Johnny Cash Project.   I think I am going to do a frame.  This is really amazing.

best new product

If you haven't heard already,  Pistachio Press has won best new product at the National Stationary Show in NYC this week for their Telegram invites.  YAY!  Congrats to two of the hardest working people I know.  If you are in the city you should check them out.

Images stolen from Aesthetic Outburst and I still can't tell which ones are weeds.

Just what the rainy monday needed, Sugerhill Gang's Rapper's Delight.

Have a great one!

I just really like this image

This is the old sink in the bathroom at Anderson Alley, home of my studio space.  I think I might paint it.

how mondays should start

Jake introduced me to Sabaton a few weeks ago.  This song has been stuck in my head ever since.  Have a great Monday!

Jennifer Bartlett

Jennifer Bartlett is one of Jens favorite artists.  Her work has changed quite a bit since Jen first discovered her back in college.

The bottom image of her work is the latest.  I personally really like her boats.  I love the large scale paintings joined with the boats on the floor in front.  Maybe for my paintings I will have my dogs sit and stay in front of them.

Michael Borremans

I stumbled upon Micheal Borremans paintings while in Anthropology.  There is a book about portraits that I have thumbed through about three times now and noticed his work for the first time.  I really love how delicate the paintings are.  They are like memories to me, a sense of nostalgia.  The first image is my  favorite.

Pepsi Refresh Project

Pepsi is giving away millions of dollars in grants in the form of the Pepsi Refresh Project.  I am posting about this because Jen has submitted a proposal for the Veterans Outreach Center in Rochester, NY.  Her idea is to further develop the art therapy program at the VOC.  The grant money will be used to renovate a therapeutic studio space and community art gallery.  Jen has really aimed high on this, the grant she applied for is worth 50 grand.  Yes, $50 thousand dollars.  We need your vote.  You can vote everyday until the end of the month.  Also, if you drink Pepsi, there are specially marked bottles and boxes that have "power voting codes" which can multiply your vote up to 100 times.  Hit this site and vote now.

how mondays should start

I know this is older, but this is how I would like to start my week.
Vampire Weekend, Cousins.

Oops, meant to post this tomorrow!  Oh well,  great end to Sunday night then.
