Friday

Well it was an epic fail in the studio today.  It's so nice outside and that is all I could think about.  Until next time, have a great weekend!

The current look of the attic with carpet and nothing else:

Not the best pics but that is all I could find.

attic remodel

So I have began the remodel of our attic.  I have been ripping carpet out when I get home from work and am almost finished.  I actually like the dirty plywood under the carpet better then the carpet itself.  After seeing the wood,  I would like to put wood flooring down.  I did some image searching on the net and found a picture of the floor I would like.  Then I saw this ceiling in another image and want to do this.  What began as a simple remodel may turn into a big project, if that is ok with Jen.  Now I want it to look very spacious and loft like and add a bathroom.  So far others opinions have been to not get crazy because of resale and getting your money back when you sell.  I guess, but I also want it to be a space that is welcoming and useful.  I will try and post before and after pics  if we get crazy with it.

Here are the images I like:

The LaDue Project is finished.  I am happy that it is over.  Here are the last images of color choices for the last panel.  I think it was a good pick.

Here is the problem panel:

The finished product:

I think the blue I chose looks great with the green and red, I actually really like those images the best out of this whole process!

Friday Finish

I put in a few hours last night and will try and finish the LaDue Project today.  Finally.

gray/blue

The infamous gray/blue.

Working on the red panel.  They gray/blue is still wet.

change it back

Well the LaDue Project went downhill fast on Friday.   I thought that I would get creative and change the royal blue panel to a gray/blue instead.  The unanimous decision in the studio (6 judges plus myself): bad idea.  Some liked the color and some hated it, but it was agreed that it didn't belong to this project.  I will paint over it today.  I was thinking that maybe today when I came to the studio I would like it and things would be great, but no that didn't happen.

I began a new painting which I will call Shark for the moment.  Yes, because the outline is that of a shark.  I know, clever.

Perros Bravos is at a stand still.  I have not changed it since the last post.  See below if interested.

Campione del Mundo  has been silent for awhile too.  I think I know how to finish it.  The red butterfly that I think is a problem will be painted more realistic in comparison to the bull, to bring it more into the foreground.

Hooray! Piles of drawings!

Be back in a bit with some changes...............

PAINT2!

I just talked to the U of R students.  umm uhhh ummm uhhhh yeah ahhhh, not sure.  I know how to speak, but that is pretty much what came out of my mouth.  I don't know if I will ever get over talking about my work in front of people.  I had back sweat like nobodies business.

Here is the recent development in what I now call the LaDue Project.

On Saturday, I let a woman take a painting that she really liked so she could hang it up and see how it looked in her home.  She gave me a deposit and left with the painting, she would get back to me today if she wanted it.  Sounds to me like a done deal.  I am sitting in my studio and she appeared in the doorway, I looked down and she had the painting with her.  She said it didn't work, it was to bright for the room, it looked way better in the studio.  Who does that?  Is this weird to anyone else?  Lesson learned, next time, if you like the piece you buy it.  Go to a department store if you want something to match your walls!

PAINT!

A few images today.

I will try and talk about my drawings to some U of R students. (above)
Early stages of the commission, will paint first layer of faces today.  (below)

Still working on the now titled PERROS BRAVOS!  Thanks RFXOB!

See you again soon, hopefully with some more changes!

studio

Today is a studio day.  I have not had many of those lately, so I was excited about coming today.  It was blah this morning around the Roc and as soon as I got to the studio it became bright and sunny.  I started work on a commission today.  It is nice to take a break from my work and just paint something that is already thought through.  I guess that makes sense.  I will post an image so you know what I mean.  I learned this weekend that I have trouble explaining things and just keep talking and no one understands what I am saying.  Oh well, maybe that is why I didn't speak in college.

I watched a short film this morning called Lemonade.  It was pretty inspiring and made me wish I could lose my job.  I guess that would be pretty rough though if I was just planning on making art while I was not working.  It also made me feel like I am not doing enough to help myself.  I think I already knew that though which is pretty sad.  I will get it someday.

I was loving red today also!
