sticky

This is what happens when you are not in the studio.  Your shit begins to dry up.  Now get your ass to the studio!

Also, I have frames arriving on the 30th.  I will be framing drawings for a show I have at Windsor Cottage.  This is a little different than usual because it is a furniture store.   The drawings that are extra I am going to try and put in the Memorial Art Gallery Store. ( more on that later)  I will also have a few paintings up as well.

No painting tonight, Jake will talk shit.  Later.

Everyone I know is camping, on the beach or at a cottage of some sort.  I will be working.  No, not on art.  Bartending.  Have a great time with whatever you are doing!

5 weeks ago I think

I started this painting before I went to Grenada.  Yeah, it has been been about 5 weeks since I last touched it.  I am painting over an old BFA painting.  I can't believe I am doing that.  What else am I going to do with a 4x6 foot painting that I have had for 9 years??  Here is a peek.

I just ordered 10 frames from Westfall Framing.  I have news..........

Grenada

View from the cottage at Lanse Aux Epines

 Inside the cottage

La Sagesse Beach

Mt. Carmel Falls.  They were higher then they looked.

Seven Sisters Falls.  The top waterfall here was 35 feet high.  Jen, Mike and Cliffon (the tour guide) jumped off it.  I jumped the lower one.

This was the highest waterfall at Seven Sisters.  This one is not for jumping.

That is really all the images I have that are interesting if I could even say that.  I didn't bring my camera everywhere because we were always in the water.

Beach Dog

Our cottage was located right on the beach.  After a few days a dog started to come around.  I was a little weary at first because there are many wild dogs on the island.  I am also usually afraid of dogs if I don't know them.  Many people can speak to that.  Anyways, he seemed innocent enough so we chilled with him a bit each time he came around.  We named him Beach Dog for obvious reasons.  Hanging with him made us miss our dogs.  It was nice to have a furry companion for a bit.

Beach Dog

I really like the last image of him.  I may paint him.  I say that about everything though.

a novel

I never read.  I get to distracted, I can't concentrate.  About a chapter in, I give up.  I brought a novel with me to Grenada anyway.  No internet, no phone.  Just beach.  Just a book.  I finished my first novel since I don't even know when.  I know, the suspense in killing you.  What book?!?!  I read "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein.  It was the saddest thing I have ever read.  Funny at times, but very sad.  It was great.  The story is told from Enzo's perspective.  Enzo is the family dog.

"I'm sure my father was a terrier.  Because terriers are problem solvers.  They'll do what you tell them, but only if happens to be in line with what they wanted to do anyway."

That quote from the book reminds me of Gino, who happens to be part terrier.

I am back

Yes, I am a little late this week.  I am fresh from vacation but running a little late.  We had such a great time.  White sand, dark sand.  Blue aqua green turquoise white.  There was a dog that we named beach dog. Snorkeling, cottage on the beach, wild nephews, waterfalls, 35 feet high waterfalls.  Mike and Jen jumping off 35 feet waterfalls.  I jumped off the 10 footer.  Someone had to watch the bags!  Boogie boards, white caps, salt water.  Coconuts.  Crabs.  Lizards.  RUM.

I will post pics later.  Just need to come back to reality.
