Jen and I did some holiday decorating on Sunday. We set the tree up on a stand made of totes in front of the living room window. It is 4 feet tall and fake and has lights attached to the branches. It is in front of the window because I was too late on hanging lights up outside and then it got cold and then snowed and then I couldn't find something and then .............. Anyways yes I ruined Christmas. We did hang lights in the kitchen and dinning room though. Does that count for anything?

Yes, we do know how to break it down grandma style!

Thanks to everyone who came out this weekend to check out the Anderson Alley Holiday Gala. We had a great time hanging out and enjoying every ones company.

A little bit of sad news: Monday night marked the last night of one of my favorite TV shows Boston Legal. Denny Crane!

It was an awesome holiday weekend

The past week has been super busy. Thanksgiving was at my parents this year and as usual the food was awesome. I ate turkey for days. Then on to packaging prints and thrift store shopping for my display at second storie. That took way longer than I thought but it seems to always happen that way. Second storie was amazing and the vendors were top notch. The second storie gals did and excellent job. I went to Jens high school reunion on saturday night and went to bed just passed 4 am. yeah, I know. Followed that up with the 2nd day of second storie and crashed when I went home. A big THANK YOU to all of the shoppers and vendors at second storie and hope to see you in the future.
I tried to clean up my studio space and this is how far I got.

Anderson Alley Holiday Gala Friday and Saturday. Be there or be square!!

the 17th

It is the 17th of nov. and I have not posted in 5 days. Where did the time go? As I have mentioned, I am working on a handful of drawings for secondstorie and my etsy shop. Here is a peek of what has been going down.

There are about 12 drawings in the works/finished of 40 that I would like to have done. Not too good.

Speaking of second storie,

I also want to thank studio71design for posting a drawing/print of mine on her blog. It was very cool of her to do that so check her out.

I was feeling real good in the studio today. I looked through Sara's cds and came across the White Stripes Icky Thump. That cd was on repeat all day. Then I made 2 horrible drawings and was irritated with myself. So I left. I can't stop thinking about them so I am going to go back to the studio in about 2 min to see what I can do about them. Jen went and saw Ani DiFranco in Boston this weekend and she will be home in a little while. That is all the rambling I have left today.

carvingmyinitials.etsy.com

Well the etsy shop is moving along slowly but surely. I will have it up and running by friday 11/14/08. There I said it, now it has to be done. There is a lot more to it then I imagined and it makes me a little nervous. The first 2 items will be prints of original drawings. I have not picked which ones yet.

I was working on art related projects all day today and it fealt really awesome. Tomarrow I work and the studio will have to wait until the evening. I feel like I am really doing something with myself and my art even though nothing has transpired....yet. Thanks for the help and support studiomates. peace.

yes I said peace.

My dream house in Portifino, Italy. Warm thoughts.

Etsy

My etsy shop is almost complete. I still have to figure a few things out but it should be up and running tomorrow night! I am pretty excited about it. I was at the studio for a few hours today and will go back in a bit. It is really cold in there. This counts as working right?

Here are a few little drawings I have been working on. I am aiming to have 40 completed by the time secondstorie comes around.

On the way to the studio up Atlantic Ave. I always pass this train yard and railroad bridge. I mention them because I get ideas for my work from them. The colors and composition, the graffiti and grittiness interest me.

Obama'08

Last night I think I heard the world applauding. Congratulations Senator Obama!

VOTE

I hit the poles this morning with Jen and I am hoping that history will be made. This will probably be the most important election in my lifetime and it was exciting to be a part of it. The waiting game begins. Good Luck Senator Barack Obama.

only made it 3 hours

I was at the studio for only about 3 hours today. That is all I could do. It was hard to get going hopefully tomorrow will be better. I did start 2 drawings but I am not sure what will become of them. Here is a pic of our living room and the area rug we want to put in it. What does anyone think? I think it will look crazy but in a good way but would like to have another opinion.

Studio day

It is almost 9 am on monday and I will be heading to the studio shortly. I can't wait. Try to make it 8 hours today. Be back later.

eventually I will get it

Just figured out where the comments are. yeah....

Pumpkin carving 2

And here they are, the finished pumpkins of 2008. It was harder then we thought but we did our best. Jen is on the right and I am on the left. It was frustrating but fun. I may have gotten a little to competitive because I was being real pissy when Jen asked for help. anyway......I just realized that I have comments and I don't know how to get back to them to check them again. If any of you feel ignored it is because I had no idea you left a comment. I don't even know how to write back or comment or whatever it is called on here. Sorry. But thanks for the support. And yes Second Storie is a great way to finish the week even though I did it on Monday.

Can't wait. Uno

Just finished up carving pumpkins with Jen. We did self portraits this year and I will post some images tomorrow when they are finished. 3 hours was enough tonight. Part time starts next week and I can't wait. Goodnight.

the usual rochester day

I woke up to another wonderful day of gray today. I will follow that up with getting breakfast with Jen at Jim's Restaurant and then off to work at 3. yay. Sunday should be a little better and perfect for football and possibly some last minute yard work to end the season. Pretty boring yeah I know but thats what I have for now.

haha

haha I have no followers.

raking leaves

I came home from work today knowing that I had to rake the leaves in the yard. Although the yard is small I still hate raking leaves. It had to be done though so I could cut the grass. My neighbor told me to just mulch the leaves with the lawnmower. Last time I did that the snow melted in the spring and there was chopped leaves everywhere and grass didn't grow in certain areas. So I will rake them up. Leaf pick up for my area is not until Nov. 23, what's up with that?! The alumni show opens tomorrow at 4 at SUNY Brockport. I may go to the studio afterwards. Perhaps dinner at my parents?? hmmm Maybe a beer at C n S Saloon. We shall see. One.

finished

I finished the painting I have been working on 2 nights ago. I was extremely frustrated with it and followed some good advice to just leave the studio and come back to it another time. I went home and ate dinner with Jen and she volunteered to take a look at the painting after dinner. We went to the studio around 9 ("another time" to me meant about 45mins). She said the area of problem was better but she was still not convinced. In a split second I realized instead of reworking with a new image over the area, bring out what was already there. I painted a white m and t, that was all it needed. I delivered my work today and feel relieved to have it done. The SUNY Brockport alumni show opens on the 21st from 4 to 6pm. The exhibition runs through Dec. 7. I was seriously obsessed with this painting. I may have to hang it this weekend. My brother went to Granada today to look at school and find apartment. I will pick him up Sunday at the airport. That's all folks.

addiction

I am addicted to energy drinks and double quater pounders. It's gross. I think I am also addicted to Regina Spektor. That is all today. Going to work. Later.

just another day

I skipped the studio last night because of car trouble. I went for about 2 hours today though. Progress is being made on my latest painting but I feel a snowball effect is happening. I keep adding to it and feel that more can be done. The play list tonight was Linkin Park to Coldplay to Jay-Z. I like to mix it up to keep the energy going. Here is a camera phone sneak peak of a section of the piece. Fridays schedule is insane...730-1 work and 3-2am work. No time for studio.

Day 2

I went to the studio again ( that's 2 days in a row) and added another house to a painting I am trying to finish in what is now 6 days. It is almost there. I just watched the presidential debate and I believe Barack Obama is our next President of the United States. Would anyone out there ever paint over someones artwork to create their own? It is wierd.

3 hours in the studio

I made it to the studio tonight. I was there for 3 hours. Cleaned brushes, shoved the mess aside and began to paint. I could have continued painting but I chose to call it a night. I reached a point where I had to many ideas running through my head. I thought if I keep going I may screw up. It is so close to being finished that I didn't want to take that chance. I wanted to add graffiti, but that my have been to much, unnecessary. I will go back tomorrow and see if I really like the changes. goodnight.

Eight Days

Anyone ever have a show coming up and think you don't have enough work to fit the space? I hate that. Eight days to finish painting.

Studio time

I really want to get into the studio today but I just don't feel motivated. I have been thinking about this for weeks which has actually turned into a month and a half now. There is a lot to do up there but I don't feel right to get myself in there. I get this feeling when I know I can go up there and work for hours and I can't get that right now. I can't get that "feeling" or whatever it is. I suppose I can use this blog as an excuse or maybe motivation. It's getting cold out. I had to work until about 2am last night. Monday I will go. Even if I just sit there I will just go.

Been a few days...

Well it's been a few days since I last posted something. I am waiting to here back from New American Paintings to see if I will be in the northeast exhibition book. I really would be excited about that. I was denied last time I tried. The SUNY Brockport alumni show is coming up at the end of the month (October 28th) at the Tower Fine Arts building on campus. It will be pretty cool. I have to drop work off on the 10th or 14th. I wish I had a new body to show but I always wish that. I hate my work about 2 months after I finish it. I don't know why. The Office is on soon. Maybe more later. Go Biden! It is also thirsty thursday and Jen, Mikey and I are drinking Samuel Adams Octoberfest because its October.

State of the City Exhibition

This work was part of the State of the City exhibit at Rochester Contemporary. It is my latest. I think it went well and I hope I can keep the ball rolling into the new year. Who knows. Other artists featured in the show included Avalanche Collective, Robert Burley, Ryan Boatright, and Bingyi Huang.

I say keep the ball rolling but I have not been in the studio in two months. I just can't seem to get in there. I guess I could be there now instead of posting a blog no one will read. I will do this anyways because it is homework. It is homework from friends that want to see me do 200% instead of 100%. I like that. If anyone cares to know the Buffalo Bills are 4-0.

Just a thought

I was thinking about not painting on canvas anymore. That is all I could think about at work yesterday. It is so traditional that I convinced myself it was boring. But today in the shower I completely changed my mind. I like tradition I guess. This painting is on canvas. It is from about 2 years ago and is titled 1979. I couldn't stop listening to The Killers and Johnny Cash during this time. It was fun.

New T shirt

This is one of my favorite purchases in the last few weeks. It is made by Obey. Thought I would share that with all the Obama supporters.

Here we go

This is the first blog in the history of Jim DeLucia. It took me about 20 min to think of a name and about 10 deleted sentences to get to this point. Hi Rachael. It is a little boring now but I need a little more time to develop it. Maybe tom. I am tired and my wife just got home so I will go see her. Goodnight.
