I went out to shovel the driveway today, my nose was running and my first instinct was to lick my lip.
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!!

computer officially crashed

My computer officially crashed at the beginning of last week.  It seems like when you start to get ahead a higher power busts out with a big "syke" and you are back where you started.  I guess I can't really complain about it,  the computer is about 6 years old and I am surprised that it lasted that long.
Anyways, I wanted to thank Abbey at Aesthetic Outburst for a post about my calendar.  It is nice when people like your work enough to write about it.  Thanks again!
Busy week coming up, my bro and his family fly in on the 26th from Granada.  This is their first time home in a year, so it should be pretty fun for everyone.  Also my friends Mikey and Casey will be up from Florida.
I am  freezing my ass off in the studio right now typing this.  It is 53 in here.  But at least we have internet in here now!   Yes another boring post, no pics or anything .  Maybe next time.   Have a great holiday if I am not on here before then!

holy snow day batman!!!!!

Todays post is of no importance, just to write.  It is snowing like crazy, but that was expected.  It has been a busy couple of weeks.  Second Storie, Anderson Alley Holiday Gala, invisible fencing, grandma breaks a hip, working this weekend and finally cookie making dog party.

Second Storie was SPECTACULAR!!!  The first time I have used that word.  The ladies did an awesome job this year.  Everything was great.  My favorite part was the banners that were stretched from wall to wall, they were such a great detail.  I also found out some people actually read this.  I promise it will get better.

Anderson Alley moved along a bit slow this year but I met a heap of great people.  The studio looked like a little shop with all 5 of us displaying our work.

I know it is lame,  I should really get a camera and just post some picks.  Really it will get better.  Dogs got to pee, later!

the rikrak studio

The rikrak studio has wrote a post about her husband being a man of letters in celebration of becoming Dr. rikrak or mr. rikrak, Ph.D.  Here is the image she used for the post, pieces of art and vintage letters for via etsy.  She used my piece for the letter t.  I thought is was a great honor. Thanks!

My 2010 calendar is finally finished!  Check it out at my shop and let me know what you think.   More images below.

2010 Calendar

As promised earlier, here is a sneak peek at 6 of the 12 months for my 2010 calendar.  Pictured are 3 details and 3 full pages of how each month will look.  The cover (not pictured and not finished! yet!) can be trimmed to become a print ready to frame or taped to the wall, whichever floats your boat.  It should be completed and in the shop on fri.  Let me know your thoughts on it.  Goodnight!

Paint Made Flesh

The MAG has an incredible show up called Paint Made Flesh.  I can't wait to go check it out, possibly fri.  Any takers???  The above painting is by Jenny Saville, she is pretty much one of the best painters around.  It will be great to finally see one in the flesh.  Yeah I know, that was lame.

My 2010 calendar is almost complete.  It is only taking me forever to finish but I think it is looking pretty good.  I will try and post images later, and by later I mean tonight.  That is all.  Hope everyone enjoyed the nice weather.

The bugs grew into flies.  I think.

a little late......

Here are this years pumpkins that Jen and I carved!  I am seriously obsessed with our dog Gino.  Jen has become the owl lady out nowhere also.  On fri night a group of us got together at a frineds house and made about 10 pizzas and carved pumpkins.  We had a great time.  These are camera phone pics so I don't have any shots of the other carved masterpieces.  They included a pumpkin with a pumpkin carved into it, a nome, a smiley face with a prosthetic nose and accupuncture needle between its perfect circle eyes, pacman chasing two ghosts, an angry face, and a cat with an eyepatch and gills.  Can't wait till next year!

i want to puke

I am stressing about the epson r1900. I need a printer desperately so I can print my work without absorbing the time of others who are also extremely busy. I have read the reviews and something in my gut says don't do it and it makes me want to puke. The next printer would be the 3800 which, right now, is way out of my price range. shit. shit. shit. shit. I will probably order it tomorrow.

Put on my collard greens"

That has been in my head for days now.

surprise party

Two weekends ago Jen had the biggest surprise party for me. I had no clue. She had been planning it for about 2 months and I never suspected a thing. I couldn't believe it. She flew 2 of my friends in from Florida and also rented a cottage in the 1000 islands for everyone to stay the weekend. I am pretty sure that that was the first and only time I had ever been surprised. I was speechless. So shots were consumed, and beer, and a lot of food. It was the best gift ever from the greatest gal.

It kind of sucks posting when you don't have any images. sorry.

Yes, Gino again

Maybe it is because I don't have kids that I am obsessed with my dog Gino. I love my cats, but Gino is real cool, he is like my homeboy now. He just turned 1 on the 16th, or maybe the 18th, it is still being debated. This is a drawing of him I did about a month or so ago. One of his many nicknames is 5-0, because he is always patrolling. I don't know what he is looking for, but he just wanders and sniffs everywhere he goes and is always on alert. Maybe it's the sticks he is looking for.

Also, be on the lookout in my etsy shop, new work will be up very soon. I can't wait because it has been awhile. I am really excited about it.

In sad news, the countdown to 30 is at t-minus 5 days.
Good news, Yanks beat the Sox 2-1 during weekend series. Nice.

Fahamu Pecou

I came across this painter in the recent issue of New American Paintings. I can't stop searching for his work on the Internet! It is in your face, there is a swagger about these pieces that takes me back to my rap/hip hop listening days, you know, before any and everybody started rapping! To check out more go to http://www.fahamupecouart.com/. The reason I chose to write about Pecou (besides that I think he is a great painter) is because I believe there to be a familiar style in his work (a lot of his work) reminiscent to Jean Michel Basquiat (another favorite of mine). The scribbling of words, crossing out of phrases, and the painted space. I do think it is a great homage to Basquiat, but is it to much to include in all the paintings? I am not sure. I only bring it up because I used to "borrow" from an old professors work and some talk began. What does anyone think?

paparazzi

This weekend Jen and I attended our friends Sara and Ben's wedding. It was at the beach and the day couldn't have been more perfect. Congrats to them!!
The paparazzi and their sneaky cameras must have been around because the photo above has led to a lot of talk. I don't know what their obsession is with me, but it must stop. Normally I am pretty elusive, but they got me this time. I mean, I am at a wedding, just let me chill for once. Or at least get me on the way to the studio so it looks like I do work. Nope, we will get Jim with a drink in his hand and spin it into a story. Next thing you know, supposedly at the reception "Jim was later found as the meat between a Lindsay Lohan/Paris Hilton sandwich on the dance floor." I don't evan dance! I mean come on, I guess you can't always believe what you read.

Yellow

The Coldplay concert Jen and I went to over the weekend was probably the best concert I have been to. They were great. The band played about 2 hours or more I think. Such awesome performers. The image below is the scene when they began to play their song Yellow, it seemed like there was about one hundred giant yellow balloons bouncing everywhere. When they exploded, yellow confetti would float around. I wish my camera wasn't broke!
This pic was taken by Jen, it is me in her brothers basement last year. I was going through my files and found it in the "random" folder. I really like it for some reason. Well that is all for now until I can think of something a little more interesting to post.

Toronto/Coldplay

Jen and I will be heading to Toronto tomorrow to see Coldplay. This is going to be so awesome I can't wait.

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Ahhh yes.....

I do not have any images because my camera is officially broke. I can not take pictures with it. That blows. I also received a jury summons in the mail. That blows too. When I hop on facebook, I can't stop taking all the little pointless quizzes. It's pretty ridiculous. I just realized that every time I eat a pot pie, I eat it the exact same way. Yup, a lot going on over here. Today on the radio I heard the Freys rendition of Kanye Wests "Heartless" and I thought it was great. Some people can really mess a song up, but not this time.

So I have been debating on buying a really good printer for the studio in hopes that it would allow me to stay there longer, so I can feel like I get things done. Any suggetions? Is anyone out there?? Hellllloooooo!? Well, I guess that is it.

Will someone teach me how to write a blog!? ha

I was going through some sites I found a while back and happened to come across collage artist Kareem Rizk. All I can say is I love his work. They are very nostalgic and full of energy. His arrangements or colors and composition are great. Check his work out at www.kareemrizk.com , etsy or his blog.

my neighbors backyard

This is my neighbors backyard. I wanted to post some images of it because I think it is amazing. He is out there everyday working on it and we just love it. I don't think many people have a view like this when they are in their backyard. The first pic is our yard which shows the stone wall that faces our house. The rest of the images our the garden/ park, I am not sure what to call it. There are places to sit throughout the garden and relax or just admirer the surroundings.

this is really annoying

A male black bear died today in Rochester after is was tranquilized high up in a 40 foot tree. The bear fell out of the tree while a bunch of idiots thought they could catch it in a net. I mean, did these professionals really think they were strong enough to catch a bear after a 20 to 40 foot drop?? On top of that, they need a week to figure out what killed the bear!!?? This really angered me today and I think the situation could have been handled differently, maybe in a way in which a bear was not tranquilized and left to plunge to the ground from a 40 foot tree. In the words of Seth Myers, Really? Really!? If anyone cares to see the video, here is the link and the video is in the right corner. This just disgusts me.
